The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially invited the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to discuss their concerns about the voters register for the December 7 general elections.
Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairperson of the EC, emphasized the importance of dialogue and cooperation between the Commission and political parties to resolve any issues and ensure a seamless electoral process.
Dr. Bossman Asare highlighted that open and constructive discussions are the best way to address concerns about the electoral roll.
He urged the NDC to engage directly with the EC to address their issues rather than resorting to nationwide protests scheduled for today, September 17.
While acknowledging that protests are a valid form of expressing grievances, Dr. Asare stressed that if the NDC’s goal is to enhance the credibility of the electoral register, direct dialogue with the EC is the most effective approach.
“We believe that meaningful change comes from discussions at the table. Political parties have the right to demonstrate and voice their concerns, but if the NDC’s objective is to ensure a reliable register for the 2024 elections, they should be open to engaging in dialogue with us,” Dr. Asare stated.
