The Electoral Commission (EC) has unveiled its plan to publish polling station results on its website for the very first time in the 2024 elections, aiming to boost transparency, as announced by Deputy Chairperson Dr. Bossman Asare.
Dr. Asare confirmed, “We will make polling station results available on our website well ahead of any potential legal actions.
This initiative will enable the public and stakeholders to verify the data directly from the source. The commission has thoroughly considered this step and is dedicated to its execution.”
In an interview, Dr. Asare’s announcement followed a call from Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, the African Union High Representative for Silencing the Guns, who encouraged the EC to strengthen stakeholder trust before the elections.
Dr. Chambas noted that online accessibility of results would significantly enhance the electoral process’s credibility and transparency.
Dr. Asare clarified that the results will be published only after all polling station data is compiled. “As this is a new process for us, we will ensure that all results are collected before uploading them,” he added.
