Tito Jackson, a founding member of the iconic pop group the Jackson 5 and brother of the late Michael Jackson, has passed away at the age of 70.
The cause of death has not yet been released.
Tito performed alongside his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael in the legendary group, which achieved global fame in the 1960s and 70s. The Jackson 5 produced numerous hits, including “ABC,” “The Love You Save,” and “I Want You Back.”
Steve Manning, a longtime friend and former manager of the Jackson family, confirmed Tito’s death on Monday. The news was shared on Instagram by Tito’s sons, Taj, Taryll, and TJ Jackson, who formed the pop group 3T in the 1990s.
“We are shocked, saddened, and heartbroken,” they wrote. “Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being. He will be missed tremendously.”
The Jackson 5’s music continues to resonate with fans worldwide, and their legacy has been celebrated with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Tito’s death comes just weeks after the group performed at a music festival in Germany. He leaves behind his three sons, his siblings, and a lasting legacy in the world of music.
