Protest Against EC Seeks Electoral Transparency – Mahama Mobilizes Ghanaians
- The NDC protest is focused on urging the EC to address discrepancies in the voters' register
- The demonstration on the 17th will include not just NDC members but all Ghanaians
- Mahama stresses that the protest is about improving the electoral process
John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is spearheading a high-profile protest against the Electoral Commission (EC) to address what the party sees as critical issues with the voters’ register.
The NDC contends that these discrepancies could threaten the fairness of the December 7 elections.
In a recent community engagement during his Greater Accra regional tour, Mahama emphasized that the protest is aimed at ensuring a transparent and credible electoral process, not criticizing the EC or its commissioners personally.
He called on Ghanaians to join the NDC in advocating for an accurate voters’ register, which he believes is essential for a peaceful electoral outcome.
“Our aim is to ensure that the EC fulfills its responsibilities effectively,” Mahama explained. “By raising our concerns and staging this demonstration on the 17th, we hope to pressure the EC into addressing these issues, thereby securing a peaceful election. This effort involves all Ghanaians who are committed to a fair electoral process.”
