National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Mahama has defended his party’s decision to protest against the Electoral Commission (EC) over concerns about the accuracy of the voters’ register.
Mahama emphasized that the NDC’s actions aim to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process, ensuring a free and fair election on December 7.
During a community engagement in Greater Accra, Mahama stressed the importance of a credible and transparent voters’ register in guaranteeing the democratic process.
He urged Ghanaians to support the NDC’s push for reforms, highlighting the significance of an accurate register in protecting the democratic process.
Mahama warned that discrepancies in the register could erode voter trust and jeopardize the election’s outcome, undermining the very foundation of Ghana’s democracy.
By advocating for a thorough review of the voters’ register, Mahama reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to a peaceful and credible electoral process.
This commitment, he believes, will strengthen Ghana’s democracy and ensure a stable political environment.
Mahama clarified that the NDC’s issues with the EC are not personal, but rather a desire for a peaceful and fair electoral process.
The party’s protests and demonstrations, including one scheduled for September 17, aim to pressure the EC to ensure a trustworthy electoral process.
Through these efforts, the NDC seeks to guarantee that every Ghanaian’s vote counts, and the election’s outcome reflects the true will of the people.
