Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah has announced that the government has successfully located Sedinam Attionu Tamaklo, the former CEO of MASLOC.
Tamaklo was sentenced to 10 years in prison with hard labor but fled the country instead of serving her sentence. The government is working with partners in the United States to facilitate her extradition back to Ghana.
Tuah-Yeboah revealed that Tamaklo was involved in theft during her tenure as MASLOC boss under the NDC administration. Her accountant was sentenced to five years in prison for assisting her in the theft.
Tamaklo was granted permission to seek medical treatment abroad but took advantage of the opportunity to flee. She has been moving between the US and London, but her movements are being monitored daily.
The government has filed all necessary documents for her extradition and is confident she will be brought back to Ghana soon.
Once she returns, her jail term will commence immediately, serving as a lesson for public officials to work diligently.
The government also plans to confiscate her properties and hold accountable those who posted her five-million-cedi bail.
