- Mahama's presence crucial for debate.
The spokesperson for Dr. Bawumia’s 2024 campaign team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has made a significant announcement regarding the upcoming presidential debate.
According to Aboagye, Dr. Bawumia will only participate in the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) presidential debate if former President John Dramani Mahama is also present.
The IEA has scheduled the first and second presidential debates for October 22 and November 19, 2024, respectively, ahead of the December 7 polls.
In addition to the presidential debates, the IEA has planned a vice-presidential debate for November 5, 2024, and five evening encounters.
The first evening encounter is set to take place on September 18, with the final one scheduled for October 15.
Aboagye emphasized that Dr. Bawumia is eager to engage in a meaningful debate on national issues.
However, he stressed that the presence of Mahama is crucial for a balanced and comprehensive discourse.
Aboagye argued that the December polls will be a contest between Dr. Bawumia and Mahama, making Mahama’s participation essential for a productive debate.
He maintained that there is no debate if Dr. Bawumia’s key contender, Mahama, is not participating.
Ultimately, Aboagye’s statement sets a clear condition for Dr. Bawumia’s participation in the IEA presidential debate.
