Portable Calls Out Davido Over Broken Promise

Portable, the popular Street pop star, has shed light on his strained relationship with Nigerian music icon Davido in a recent interview on Echo Room. The singer revealed that his meeting with Davido in Atlanta, during his American tour, came at a significant cost.

Portable disclosed that he turned down a performance worth $6,000 to spend time with Davido. During their meeting, Davido had initially promised to provide a guest verse, but later reneged on the commitment. “Who go bless you no go stress you,” Portable expressed in pidgin English, lamenting the broken promise and suggesting that Afrobeats star Zlatan may have influenced the change in Davido’s decision.

According to Portable, he was in the U.S. seeking an international artist for a collaboration when Davido reached out to him. The interaction, however, took a turn when Zlatan allegedly advised Davido to be cautious about associating with Portable.

Following days of social media outbursts accusing Zlatan of undermining his relationship with Davido, Portable issued an apology to Zlatan in an attempt to repair their fractured relationship. This incident is not the only high-profile dispute Portable has faced in 2024. Earlier this year, he was involved in a public feud with socialite Bobrisky and recently reconciled with musician Goya Menor after a fallout over the 2022 Headies Best Street Pop Award.

In a more positive note, Portable also debuted his new single, “Oriade,” during his Echo Room interview, showcasing his ongoing commitment to his music career despite the controversies.
