The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Wing has warned that re-electing John Mahama and his running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman, would be disastrous for Ghana.
At a press conference in the Upper East Region, NPP National Youth Organiser Salam Mustapha argued that Mahama and Opoku-Agyeman’s previous policies harmed the youth.
Mustapha cited the cancellation of the teacher trainee allowance during their administration as an example of poor governance.
He noted that Mahama’s defeats in the 2016 and subsequent elections showed Ghanaians’ rejection of his leadership.
Mustapha questioned why Mahama was the only leader in Ghana’s history to be rejected by voters when seeking re-election.
He criticized Mahama for plunging the country into problems like dumsor despite inheriting an oil-rich economy.
Mustapha described Mahama’s performance as president as “shambolic,” citing widespread job losses and economic hardship.
The NPP youth organiser also attacked the NDC running mate, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, for her role in implementing policies that harmed teachers and students.
Mustapha cautioned Ghanaian youth not to vote for Mahama and Opoku-Agyemang, warning that they “portend doom for our country and gloom for the youth.”
He emphasized the need to prepare the youth for the fourth industrial revolution, rather than returning to the “hopeless” leadership of Mahama and Opoku-Agyemang.
