During his address, the Asantehene cited the phrase “Obi nya waye” from Kinaata’s popular song ‘Susuka’ to emphasize the significance of appreciating Ghana’s unique position despite its challenges. He highlighted that many countries aspire to emulate Ghana and encouraged citizens to reflect on Kinaata’s poignant lyrics.

The Asantehene remarked, “I can think of many countries that look up to Ghana and wish they were just like us. Sometimes listen to the wisdom of our musicians and reflect on a piece like Kofi Kinaata’s ‘Obi nya waye,’ which means ‘Someone wishes they were like you.’” This reference was met with applause from the audience, acknowledging the Asantehene’s insightful perspective.

Kofi Kinaata expressed his excitement over the mention by sharing it on social media with the caption, “Auntie Ama eeiii… I have made it!! #KofiOOKofi.” His post was met with a flood of congratulatory messages from colleagues and fans celebrating the significant recognition.

The musician has previously been praised by notable figures, including Former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo, who named Kinaata as her favorite musician. Gospel artist Ohemaa Mercy has also lauded Kinaata’s music for its wisdom and positive messages.
