Solomon Tetteh Codjoe, a 37-year-old aviation operator, has been remanded in police custody by the Kwabenya Circuit Court on charges of pilfering aviation jet fuel.
Tetteh Codjoe, along with two other suspects, Seth and Enoch, who remain at large, is accused of conspiring to steal fuel valued at GH¢25,860 from Blue Ocean Company Limited.
Codjoe has pleaded not guilty to the allegations and is scheduled to appear in court again on September 16, 2024.
The prosecution, represented by Inspector Theodora Akanwarisagi, revealed that the complainant, Kojo Agyei Baah, a security supervisor at Blue Ocean Company at Kotoka International Airport (KIA), discovered the theft in progress.
On September 4, 2024, while inspecting the premises, Baah saw a white KIA Bongo truck, registration number GC 4329-20, parked on-site with a hose connected to the company’s fuel hydrant and fuel being siphoned into containers. Upon noticing Baah, the suspects fled the scene.
Baah promptly notified his manager, Mr. Divine Dey, and the police were called to investigate.
The truck and the stolen fuel were recovered and taken to the station. Codjoe was arrested the same day, and during questioning, he admitted to the theft and identified Seth and Enoch as his accomplices.
