Students Appear in Court for Alleged Armed Robbery of Teacher

Two students, Joshua Kwabena Nyador and Wisdom Ayekple, have been charged with robbery and conspiracy to rob in the Dansoman Circuit Court.

The accused have pleaded not guilty to the charges, while two other accomplices, Toussant Afadolo and Stanley, are still at large.

According to the prosecution, the accused robbed a teacher of her iPhone XR and iPhone 6 mobile phones at gunpoint, and also withdrew GHC175 from her mobile money account.

The robbers further downloaded the teacher’s nude photos from her Instagram page and threatened to distribute them on social media if she did not pay GHC5,000.

The court has admitted Nyador and Ayekple to bail in the sum of one million cedis with two sureties, one to be justified.

The matter has been adjourned to November 25, 2024, pending further investigation.

The prosecution’s case is that the complainant, a teacher, was robbed by the accused on July 12, 2024, at about 1900 hours in front of her Mempeasem home.

Nyador and Ayekple claimed to be level 200 students at the University of Ghana, Legon, and live at Madina Zongo Junction.

Nyador admitted to the crime in his investigation caution statement, disclosing that his schoolmates sent him phones and a pistol after the robbery.

Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the other accomplices, Toussant Afadolo and Stanley, who are still at large.
