Head coach Otto Addo has attributed the Black Stars’ loss to Angola in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) opener to sheer bad luck.
The match, held at Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday night, ended in a 1-0 defeat for Ghana, with the decisive blow coming late in the game when substitute Milson scored in the 89th minute.
In his post-match comments, Addo expressed his frustration over the loss, which ended Ghana’s impressive 24-year unbeaten home record.
“We were unlucky today,” Addo said. “We had a strong performance, especially in the second half, and it’s disappointing to see our unbeaten home streak come to an end.”
The defeat leaves the Black Stars in third place in Group F with no points. They will seek to recover when they face Niger in Berkane on Monday, September 9.
