Man Nabbed for Murdering Sister, Lover, and Friend
- Christiana Idowu’s abductor has been arrested
- The suspect was identified and tracked through ransom payment details
- The suspect is alleged to have committed similar murders of his ex-girlfriend and sister in previous years
A chilling case of serial murder has come to light in Nigeria.
A 300-level student, Christiana Idowu, was kidnapped and later found dead.
Her abductor, who has now been arrested, is suspected of killing her as well as his own sister and ex-girlfriend in previous incidents.
The kidnapping occurred while Christiana was en route to the University of Lagos for her industrial training. She was taken between Ikorodu and Yaba in Lagos State.
The suspect has been apprehended thanks to a collaborative effort from security agencies. A viral post on X revealed that intelligence agents tracked the abductor through BVN and bank account details linked to ransom payments made by Christiana’s family.
According to the post, Christiana was reported missing on August 19, 2024, after her abductors contacted her parents via her own WhatsApp. The kidnappers sent photos of her in captivity and demanded a ransom of N1,500,000. Christiana’s family initially paid N350,000, which was directed to a betting account. After receiving this payment, the abductors requested additional bank statements, which the family provided.
On August 23, the abductor ceased communication, and further investigation revealed financial transactions connected to the suspect’s bank accounts. By August 29, intelligence operatives confirmed the suspect’s identity through the BVN linked to the betting account and the suspect’s Wema Bank account. Additional tracking led to the discovery of the suspect’s connection with Christiana, including mutual interactions on Instagram.
The suspect was tracked to his parents’ home in Ikorodu, where he was arrested by the Nigerian Army. Evidence found included Christiana’s phone and details of the financial transactions. The suspect later confessed to murdering Christiana and burying her body at his residence.
Further investigation has revealed disturbing claims that the suspect may have been involved in the murders of his ex-girlfriend in 2018 and his sister in 2020, with similar patterns to Christiana’s case in 2024.
The case has sparked outrage across Nigeria, with the hashtag #JusticeForChristianah trending on social media as the public demands accountability and justice for Christiana.
