Lady Helen Wogan, the wife of the late broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan, has passed away at the age of 88, her son Mark Wogan has confirmed.

In a heartfelt social media post, Mark Wogan reflected on his mother’s life, suggesting that she and her late husband might now be “sharing a vodka martini and hoping we don’t make too much of a fuss.”

Born in 1936, Lady Helen was married to Sir Terry for over 40 years. The couple spent much of their married life together in the Buckinghamshire village of Taplow. Sir Terry Wogan, a celebrated television and radio broadcaster, passed away from cancer in January 2016 at the age of 77.

Mark Wogan described his mother as “the epitome of style and grace” in his Instagram tribute. He noted that she was “a mother, grandmother, and wife, with love and kindness at her core” and praised her “strength and a belief that saw her through many of life’s trials.” He also highlighted her “sense of humour and a turn of phrase that would have you in fits of laughter,” calling her “a proper lady in every sense of the word.”

The tribute was accompanied by a black-and-white photograph of Lady Helen and Sir Terry. Lady Helen and Sir Terry were parents to four children and five grandchildren. They married in April 1965 at a local parish church in Dublin, Ireland, where both were born.

The passing of Lady Helen has drawn condolences from several public figures, including Jeremy Clarkson, Eamonn Holmes, and Tess Daly.
