The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has awarded an honorary doctorate to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in acknowledgment of his outstanding leadership and relentless efforts in advancing peace, unity, and development throughout Ghana.
The prestigious degree was conferred upon Otumfuo Osei Tutu II by Sir Sam Jonah, a prominent businessman and Chancellor of UCC, during a special ceremony on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the university’s campus.
This ceremony was a highlight of Otumfuo’s visit to Cape Coast, aligning with the Oguaa Fetu Afahye festival celebrations.
The event showcased Ghanaian cultural traditions and academic distinction, drawing dignitaries from across the nation to honor Otumfuo’s leadership and commitment to integrating cultural heritage with modern progress.
In his acceptance speech, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed his heartfelt thanks to the University of Cape Coast and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting education, development, and national cohesion.
The occasion, captured in photographs by Manhyia Palace and Opemsuo Radio, depicted the grandeur of the event as the esteemed King was celebrated and formally acknowledged as Otumfuo (Dr) Osei Tutu II.
