Argentina secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Chile on Thursday, further strengthening their position in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The sold-out home crowd at the Monumental stadium witnessed a dominant performance from the Copa America champions, who extended their lead at the top of the South American qualifying standings to five points over Uruguay.
Despite the absence of captain Lionel Messi, who is recovering from an ankle injury, Argentina showcased their attacking prowess.
Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring in the 53rd minute, converting a cross from Julian Alvarez. Alvarez then doubled Argentina’s lead with a powerful shot from distance.
Substitute Paulo Dybala added a third goal in stoppage time, assisted by Alejandro Garnacho.
