Sir Elton John has disclosed that a severe eye infection has left him with “only limited vision” in one eye. The 77-year-old music icon shared the news on Instagram, noting that his recovery is ongoing but will require considerable time.
“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,” Sir Elton wrote. “I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.”
The legendary musician expressed gratitude towards his medical team and family for their support. “I am so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me,” he added.
The news has elicited a wave of support from celebrities. Fashion designer Donatella Versace commented, “Sending you so much love Elton! Feel better soon. Love you.” Tennis legend Billie Jean King also reached out with a message of encouragement, stating, “Sending our love and support your way. Feel better soon, friend.”
