Suggestions of a major government reshuffle in Ukraine have been confirmed, with several high-ranking officials resigning from their positions.
This includes Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba, who has been in the role since March 2020, as well as the strategic industries minister, justice minister, environmental protection minister, and deputy prime ministers.
The head of Ukraine’s State Property Fund and one of the president’s most senior aides were also dismissed.
The parliamentary leader of the ruling Servant of the People party, David Arakhamiya, confirmed that more than half of the Cabinet of Ministers’ staff would be changed, with Thursday being a “day of appointments”.
President Zelensky stated that state institutions “should be configured so that Ukraine achieves all the results that we need” and that “changes in its make-up have been prepared”.
This government reshuffle comes as Russia continues to bombard Ukrainian cities, with a Russian strike on the central city of Poltava killing 53 people and injuring 271, and a further seven people killed in Ukraine’s western city of Lviv
