NPP Cleans House: Walewale Executives Suspended Amid Primary Controversy

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended two of its constituency executives from Walewale in the North-East Region due to allegations of severe misconduct.

Additionally, a party member has been suspended for similar reasons. All three individuals have been instructed to return any party materials they hold while further investigations are conducted.

This action comes in the wake of a High Court ruling in Tamale that ordered a re-run of the Walewale constituency parliamentary primary.

The court cited issues such as irregularities, impersonation, and over-voting as grounds for nullifying the previous election.

Following this ruling, NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua announced that the party has set dates for the re-run election.

Nominations will be open from Tuesday, September 3, 2024, to Thursday, September 5, with the election scheduled for Sunday, September 8, 2024.
