Gospel singer Lady Prempeh has taken to TikTok to clarify her absence from Esther Smith’s much-anticipated concert at the Perez Dome. The event, marking Smith’s return to the music scene after a decade-long hiatus, featured several well-known gospel artists, but Lady Prempeh was notably missing from the performance lineup despite being listed as a performer.
In her video statement, Lady Prempeh detailed the circumstances surrounding her absence. She explained that she had been in touch with Esther Smith five months prior when she was initially invited to perform at concerts scheduled in Kumasi, Accra, and Takoradi.
Lady Prempeh noted that her management had confirmed her participation, and she opted to perform in Accra. However, she was informed roughly three weeks before the event that, due to the high number of performers, she would need to select only one location for her appearance.
Having confirmed her choice of Accra, Lady Prempeh attended rehearsals leading up to the event. Despite this preparation, she reported that she did not receive any further communication until the day of the concert, when she was informed about a dress rehearsal at the Perez Dome.
After attending the dress rehearsal, Lady Prempeh expected to take the stage during the main event. On the morning of the concert, however, she learned from another performer that her promotional flyer was not included in the event materials.
Assuming this was an oversight, she remained hopeful that everything would be resolved. Lady Prempeh’s manager had been in contact with the event organizers just a week before, adding to her expectation of performing.
To her dismay, on the day of the concert, she was not called to perform. She remained at the venue throughout the event and was only acknowledged after the show had concluded.
Lady Prempeh expressed her disappointment, stating that she had not received any explanation or communication from Esther Smith, her manager, or the event organizers. In her message to fans, she apologized for her absence, explaining that she had been ready to perform but was not given the opportunity by the show’s organizers.
