A devastating fire outbreak has caused significant damage to several container shops at Kasoa.
The incident occurred on the Obom stretch along the Ghana Flag area, leaving shop owners in a state of shock and despair.
The fire, which reportedly started around 5 pm on Monday, quickly spread, engulfing multiple shops. Despite the efforts of firefighters from Weija, who were dispatched to the scene, the situation was further complicated when their fire tender itself caught fire.
However, the firefighters managed to contain the blaze and prevent the entire tender from being destroyed.
As a precautionary measure, the entire Obom area was disconnected from the national grid to prevent further damage.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with flames consuming the shops and thick smoke filling the air.
Shop owners, such as Emelia Sakpo, expressed their deep distress over the loss of their businesses and livelihoods. The fire has left many traders in a vulnerable position, as many had taken loans to establish their shops.
This is the second major fire incident in Kasoa in recent weeks, following a similar incident at the Kasoa New Market.
The Ghana National Fire Service is currently investigating the causes of both fires and working to prevent future occurrences.
