Bangladesh’s cricket team achieved a historic 2-0 Test series win over Pakistan with a six-wicket victory in the second match on Tuesday. Chasing 185 runs in Rawalpindi, they reached their target in the afternoon session of the final day, adding to their 10-wicket win in the series opener, which was their first Test victory against Pakistan.

Zakir Hasan’s brisk 40 off 39 balls at the top of the innings paved the way for Bangladesh’s successful chase, leaving Pakistan with little chance of a comeback. His innings, featuring three fours and two sixes, formed a 58-run opening partnership with Shadman Islam.

The winning moment arrived with Shakib Al Hasan’s cover drive off Abrar Ahmed. Shakib, along with Mushfiqur Rahim, added an unbeaten 32-run stand for the fifth wicket, calming nerves after Mominul Haque’s dismissal left the score at 153-4.

Bangladesh’s first innings was salvaged by Litton Das’s 136, who partnered with Mehidy Hasan Miraz for a 165-run stand for the seventh wicket, after the team had been reduced to 26-6 in response to Pakistan’s 274. Mehidy, who also took five wickets earlier, scored 78.

In their second innings, Pakistan, despite three batters hitting half-centuries in their first innings, were dismissed for 172. Hasan Mahmud took 5-43, and Nahid Rana added 4-44, reflecting a return of their previous batting struggles.

Pakistan’s two losses in the series extend their winless streak in home Test cricket to six defeats and four draws since their last victory against South Africa in Rawalpindi in 2021.
