Pregnant Archer Claims Bronze in Historic Paralympic Win

Jodie Grinham, a pregnant para-archer, has made history by securing a bronze medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.

The Welsh athlete defeated her teammate and defending champion, Phoebe Paterson Pine, in a thrilling final end.

Grinham, who is seven months pregnant, overcame challenges and health setbacks to achieve this remarkable feat.

Despite facing difficulties throughout the competition, she maintained her composure and delivered a stunning performance in the final.

“I’m incredibly proud of myself,” Grinham expressed after her victory. “It hasn’t been easy, but as long as I and the baby are healthy, I knew we could compete. I shot as well as I could and it paid off.”

The expectant mother revealed that her unborn child had been a source of support throughout the competition, adding a heartwarming dimension to her achievement.

Grinham’s bronze medal is her first individual Paralympic medal, following a silver in the mixed team compound at the 2016 Rio Games.

She will now compete in the mixed team compound with Nathan MacQueen on Monday.
