A middle-aged market vendor was discovered deceased today in a bush by the roadside at Kumasi Anwomaso-High Tension, located in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The victim, a well-known gari seller who had previously been a food vendor, was a regular presence in the community.
She was expected to visit her daughter’s pharmacy after market hours, but her absence yesterday sparked concern.
Efforts to reach her by phone were unsuccessful, escalating fears. This morning, local residents found her body in the bush adjacent to the road.
The Oduom Police Station was notified of the incident. Police who responded to the scene located her phone, GHS800 in cash, and several market-related items, with no visible signs of violence or injury.
Her body has been moved to the Emena Hospital mortuary for an autopsy as authorities continue to investigate the cause of her death.
