Ghanaian media personality Serwaa Amihere has praised the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy introduced by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, calling it his “most significant legacy” to date.
On August 29, 2024, Amihere, who hosts GHONE TV’s “Voters’ Connect,” took to her X handle to discuss the impact of the Free SHS initiative. She revealed that through her interactions with Ghanaians, there is widespread approval of the policy.
“I anchor GHONE TV’s ‘Voters’ Connect’ and my interactions with ordinary Ghanaians tell me ‘Free SHS’ will be President Akufo-Addo’s biggest legacy,” Amihere stated in her post.
Amihere noted that the Free SHS policy has become a significant factor in the upcoming elections, with many voters, including market women, hawkers, and commercial drivers, likely to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections due to its benefits.
Despite acknowledging the challenges faced in implementing the policy, Amihere emphasized its substantial positive impact on Ghanaian families.
“From market women to hawkers to commercial drivers, many voting NPP in 2024 cite ‘Free SHS’,” she added. “The implementation has had challenges but we can never discount the impact Free SHS has had on many Ghanaian families.”
