A severe accident on the Nkawkaw-Accra highway in the Eastern Region has resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left 31 others injured.
The incident occurred on Saturday, August 31, involving a head-on collision between a DAF truck and a TATA bus.
Eyewitnesses reported that the crash took place at Nkawanda No. 2, with both vehicles colliding violently. The impact of the collision was so intense that three people in the truck were killed, while 31 passengers in the bus sustained various injuries.
The Nkawkaw Fire Station received an emergency call at 9:09 PM and quickly dispatched a team to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a chaotic situation with passengers trapped in the wreckage. The team worked diligently to rescue the injured and recover the deceased, transporting everyone to Kenop Care Hospital in Nkawkaw for medical care.
Municipal Fire Commander, DOII Samuel Mante, has confirmed that an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
He also stated that all 31 injured passengers are receiving treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.
