Manchester United has completed the signing of midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee that could reach £50.5 million.
The 23-year-old Uruguayan international has agreed to a five-year contract with the option to extend it for an additional 12 months.
The initial fee for Ugarte is £42.1 million, with the potential for an additional £8.4 million in performance-based payments.
This makes him the club’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window, bringing their total spending to just over £190 million.
Ugarte joined PSG from Sporting Lisbon last season for a reported fee of £50.5 million.
He made 37 appearances for the Parisians in all competitions, helping them to their 12th Ligue 1 title.
It’s been reported that PSG negotiated a 10% sell-on clause for Ugarte. Both clubs have privately expressed satisfaction with the deal.
