The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has officially launched this year’s ‘Tourism Month,’ encouraging Ghanaians to delve into the country’s rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and vibrant festivals.

This annual event, celebrated every September, aims to promote domestic tourism by inspiring individuals to visit key festivals and tourist attractions nationwide.

At the launch event, Davies Opoku Ansah, the Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, represented the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture. He highlighted the importance of Tourism Month, stating, “Tourism Month is observed each year in September and features a list of tourism-related activities and events such as festivals, musical concerts, tours, and climaxes with the World Tourism Day celebration on September 27.”

Ansah further explained, “This initiative is geared towards encouraging the patronage of prominent festivals, events, tourist sites, and attractions in the country, as well as highlighting the critical roles domestic tourism plays in growing an inclusive and sustainable tourism economy.”

Tourism Month is part of Ghana’s larger domestic tourism marketing campaign, which includes “Experience Ghana, Share Ghana” and “See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana, and Feel Ghana.” The campaign’s objectives are to raise awareness and excitement among the tourism sector and the public, promote Made in Ghana goods and services, showcase the distinctive natural and economic assets of various regions, and foster national unity.

This year’s Tourism Month will feature an array of events, including festivals, concerts, and tours, culminating in the World Tourism Day celebration on September 27. The GTA hopes that this initiative will encourage Ghanaians to explore and appreciate the diverse beauty and cultural richness of their own country.
