Brentford has accepted a lucrative offer in the region of £40 million from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli for England forward Ivan Toney.

According to sources close to the player, the deal is expected to be finalized, and Toney will complete his transfer to the Saudi Arabian club.

Toney, who has been sidelined for Brentford’s current season, was recently ruled out of their match against Southampton by manager Thomas Frank.

Earlier this summer, Al-Ahli had made a £35 million bid for the 28-year-old, which was rejected by Brentford.

In recent weeks, Toney has also been linked with a move to Chelsea.

The Saudi transfer window remains open until September 2nd, providing Toney with additional time to complete his transfer beyond the Premier League deadline of August 25th.

If the move goes through, Toney would join a growing list of high-profile players who have made the transition to Saudi Arabia, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Neymar.

Fellow England international Jordan Henderson also joined Al-Ettifaq from Liverpool last year but subsequently moved to Ajax.

Toney’s potential move to Saudi Arabia comes after his involvement in England’s Euro 2024 campaign.

Despite limited playing time, he played a crucial role in England’s shootout victory over Switzerland, scoring a penalty without looking at the goalkeeper.

However, he was omitted from the England squad for the recent Nations League games.

Toney has enjoyed a successful career at Brentford, scoring 20 goals in the 2022-23 Premier League season and netting four times in his first five matches last season following an eight-month suspension for betting rule violations.

He has scored a total of 72 goals in 141 games for Brentford since joining from Peterborough in 2020.
