- The 2025 AFCON qualifiers kick off on September 4th
Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, has confirmed that his immediate focus is on leading the Black Stars to victory over Angola in their opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The crucial encounter is set for Thursday, September 5th at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. The team will then face Niger four days later.
While the Black Stars have already played four matches in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, Addo has chosen to prioritize the upcoming AFCON fixtures.
“For now, I’m solely concentrating on Angola,” he stated. “Beating them will be a significant challenge. They have a strong squad, and it would be foolish to overlook that. We need to take things one step at a time.”
The coach emphasized the importance of a positive start to the AFCON qualifiers, asserting, “Qualifying for the AFCON is my primary goal at the moment.
A win against Angola would be a crucial step in that direction.”
The 2025 AFCON qualifiers kick off on September 4th across Africa, with Ghana’s match against Angola scheduled for Thursday, September 5th.
