Addo Leaves Door Open for Ayew’s Black Stars Return
- Otto Addo says Andre is not completely out
- Addo indicated that Ayew could still be considered
- Addo emphasized the importance of building a strong team
Ghana’s head coach, Otto Addo, has hinted that the door is not entirely closed for the potential return of Andre Ayew to the Black Stars squad.
Despite the absence of the experienced forward from the team’s recent Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger, Addo indicated that Ayew could still be considered if he maintains a high level of performance at club level.
Since leaving Le Havre at the end of last season, Ayew has been without a club, leading to his omission from the Black Stars squad for the second consecutive time.
“Andre Ayew is a talented player, but unfortunately, he’s not with us right now,” Addo explained. “Without a club, it’s difficult to say what the future holds. However, if he finds a new team and consistently delivers top performances, there’s a possibility he could rejoin the Black Stars.”
Addo emphasized the importance of building a strong team for the future and suggested that Ayew’s potential return would depend on his ability to contribute at a high level.
Ghana’s upcoming AFCON qualifiers will see them face Angola on September 5th, followed by a match against Niger four days later.
