“I Will Not Accept the ‘Queen of Gospel’ Title” – Esther Smith
- Gospel legend Esther Smith rejects "Queen of Gospel" title, citing humility
- Smith prioritizes blessing others through music, over personal recognition
- She prepares for Accra concert, promising an "encounter with God" for attendees
Renowned gospel singer Esther Smith has declined to be referred to as the “Queen of Gospel music” or the greatest in the industry. Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme on Thursday, she explained her stance, saying, “When you start calling yourself the queen or the greatest, it attracts envy and jealousy. I prefer to stay in my corner, do what I love, and continue blessing others through my music.”
When suggested that she could be considered the best in gospel music, Smith responded, “There are others who have done more than I have, and I’m not worried about that. I have many songs, and I am always willing to support others.” She emphasized that she will continue singing because her songs have blessed many people, but acknowledged that she cannot claim to be better than every other gospel artiste in Ghana.
Following the success of her Esther Smith Live Concert in Kumasi, the legendary musician is set to bring her spirit-lifting performance to Accra on Friday, August 30, at the Perez Dome. The purpose of the concert, she shared, is “not just about dancing to the music; it’s about having an encounter with God. The event will be a blessing to everyone who attends.”
The highly anticipated concert will feature Smith performing her popular songs, including “Nipa,” “Wanimonyam So,” and “Ma Wonsa.” Other notable artistes scheduled to minister on the night include Pastor Joe Beecham, OJ, Morris Babyface, and DSP Kofi Sarpong.
