The internationally recognized and award-winning Ghanaian choral group, Harmonious Chorale-Ghana, has been invited to perform in the USA by the Ghanaian Community Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas. The choir, crowned 2018 Champions of the World Choir Games Category C28 in South Africa, will headline a charity concert themed “The Hallelujah Concert” on September 28 at the Irvin Arts Center in Texas.
Following their performance in Texas, the choir will embark on a tour of New York and Worcester. This invitation marks another milestone in the choir’s illustrious 17-year history, which includes finishing as the 2nd runner-up at the International Festival of Orthodox Liturgical Music in Poland in 2019 and receiving a Special Jury Award at the International Festival of Choirs in France in July 2023.
Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, Chairman of the Board of Governors and President of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), attributes the invitation to the choir’s exceptional performance and impactful ministry. “The Harmonious Chorale-Ghana has acquitted itself over the years as a choir of international standard, and I am not surprised about the numerous invitations they receive to perform on international platforms,” he said.
The choir, directed by renowned composer James Varrick Armaah, will return to Ghana after their US trip (September 24 to October 8, 2024) to stage their 17th Anniversary concert, themed “Symphonies and Steps,” on October 19 at the Wesley Towers, Methodist Church Headquarters, Accra.
