10 Men Arrested for Allegedly Operating as Landguards

The East Legon Police have arrested 10 individuals suspected of engaging in landguard activities at Adjirigano.

The suspects, identified as Harry Otu Hesse, Khalid Adnam, Tahiru Yakubu, Awudu Salifu, Michael Laryea, Theophilus Mensah, and Mustapha Awudu, were apprehended during a police operation.

Kwetey Aryettey, Salifu Moses, and Ibrahim Musah were also taken into custody.

Their arrest followed a complaint by Nuumo Borketey Laweh XXXIII, the Gborbu Wulomo, who is one of the landowners affected by the alleged activities of the suspects.

According to the police report, the accused land guards had been harassing clients on property sold for development at Adjirigano.

They allegedly disrupted construction work, confiscating tools and obstructing workers hired to develop the land.

On August 28, 2024, an intelligence-led operation by the East Legon Police resulted in the arrest of the suspects at Adjirigano 69.

During the operation, the police seized cutlasses and other materials from the suspects.

The 10 suspects are currently in police custody, have had their statements taken, and have been arraigned.

The arrest is seen as a significant step in addressing the issue of landguard activities in the area, which has been a concern for landowners and developers.
