The Finance Minister, Mohammed Amin Adam, has announced that the government is considering extending the Kasoa-Winneba highway project beyond its originally planned endpoint in Winneba. During an inspection tour of the highway, Amin Adam revealed that the Ministry of Finance is committed to releasing funds promptly to facilitate the construction.

The inspection tour was conducted alongside the Minister for Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso-Boakye, who also expressed support for the project. Amin Adam explained that the potential extension of the project is being considered due to the highway’s strategic importance.

The highway connects to other parts of the region and serves as a vital link to other West African countries. Amin Adam highlighted the significance of the highway, stating that it links to Takoradi through Cape Coast and beyond.

He discussed the possibility of extending the contract to the border, given the quality of work being done and the potential benefits to the people. The Finance Minister assured that the Ministry of Finance will continue to provide support to ensure the completion of the project.

Residents along the stretch have raised concerns about safety issues, including huge gullies and the blasting of rocks during construction. Francis Asenso-Boakye, Minister for Roads and Highways, acknowledged the safety concerns and stated that they are ready to address specific issues raised by the people.
