The Du Bois Centre in Accra hosted a commemorative event on Wednesday, August 27, 2024, marking the 61st anniversary of the passing of renowned American sociologist Dr. W.E.B. Du Bois. The occasion was graced by a distinguished gathering of dignitaries and celebrities.
Attendees included Ghana’s President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, U.S. Ambassador to Ghana Virginia E. Palmer, Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture Egyapa Mercer, rap icon E.L., actress Akofa Ejeani Aseidu, and CEO of the National Film Authority Juliet Asante.
A notable highlight of the event was the interaction between U.S. Ambassador Virginia E. Palmer and E.L. The moment was captured by GhanaWeekend, showing the ambassador’s enthusiasm upon meeting the rapper, who was dressed in brown attire and a black cap.
E.L., whose real name is Elom Adablah, is a celebrated artist who won the ‘Artiste of the Year’ award at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, now known as the Telecel Ghana Music Awards. He is currently promoting his latest album, BAR 7.
