President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has officially launched the highly anticipated School Junction-Borteyman-Motorway project.

This development represents a key achievement in the government’s ongoing efforts to boost mobility and connectivity across the nation.

The project, which covers a 5.8km dual carriageway, was initiated in August 2022. It aims to streamline traffic flow between Tema and West Accra, providing crucial access to the newly built Borteyman stadium and enhancing safety for transportation in areas such as Adentan, Ashaley Botwe, School Junction, Nmai Dzor, Borteyman, and Community 18.

This initiative highlights the government’s dedication to improving critical infrastructure, building on previous successes like the Tema Motorway Expansion Project and the Accra-Kumasi Highway Dualization Project.

The School Junction-Borteyman-Motorway project is a vital element of a broader strategy to tackle the nation’s infrastructure challenges, which have historically impeded economic progress.

With rapid urbanization increasing the strain on existing infrastructure, the government has launched an ambitious program focusing on roadways, highways, and urban transit systems.

The project entails constructing a 5.8km dual carriageway, 5.8km of service lanes, a 1.68km access road to Borteyman stadium, and rehabilitating the Tema Motorway slip roads.

It will also feature walkways, cycling lanes, traffic signals, streetlights, and lay-byes for public transport.

Upon completion, the School Junction-Motorway Road will serve as a major East-West urban artery, offering a practical alternative to current routes and reducing travel times.

The project is expected to benefit local businesses, residents, and the environment, solidifying Ghana’s role as a leader in West African infrastructure development.
