President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed optimism that his vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will win the 2024 general elections.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the expansion of the Tema Motorway on Monday, August 26, 2024, President Akufo-Addo stated that there is none better than Bawumia to lead the nation after his term ends.
He emphasized that the country is moving forward and will not return to the era of stagnation and non-performance. President Akufo-Addo is confident that Bawumia will consolidate the gains of his administration and lead Ghana to a better, more inclusive, and more prosperous future.
The President also highlighted the significance of the Accra-Tema Motorway Expansion Project, which marks a milestone in the country’s efforts to modernize its infrastructure. The project, he noted, is a pioneering initiative and the first Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in Ghana’s road infrastructure history.
President Akufo-Addo explained that the project is being executed in three sections, with the first phase covering the Accra-Tema Motorway Roundabout to the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange. He added that his government is actively advancing several other significant infrastructure projects, including the dualization of the Santasi-Ahiakwanta Road and the Adenta-Dodowa Road.
The President expressed his gratitude to the officials and professionals who have made the project possible and praised the capability and ingenuity of domestic enterprises, citing the contractor for the first phase, M/S Maripoma Enterprise Ltd., a wholly Ghanaian-owned company. President Akufo-Addo concluded by emphasizing that together, they are building a modern, prosperous, and connected Ghana.
