The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has announced that there has been an interruption in water supply to the eastern part of the Greater Accra Region since Sunday, August 25, 2024.

According to a statement from GWCL, the interruption is due to a burst in the transmission line from the Kpong Treatment Plant to the Dodowa Booster Station.

The affected areas include several communities in the eastern part of Accra, such as Dodowa, Oyibi, Frafraha, Adenta, Madina, Ashongman, Haatso, La, Osu, Kanda, Airport Residential Area, Legon, and surrounding communities.

The statement, signed by Mr. Stanley Martey, Chief Manager of Public Relations and Communications at GWCL, explained that after initial repair work was completed, further issues were identified on the same transmission line, necessitating a second shutdown.

Engineers from GWCL are working tirelessly to replace the weak section of the transmission line, the statement said.

The GWCL has assured the public that water supply will resume by the close of Wednesday, August 28, 2024, barring any unforeseen challenges.

In the meantime, GWCL has implemented measures to mitigate the impact on affected areas, including supplying essential service providers like hospitals and schools with water through tankers.

The management of GWCL has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the interruption and has pleaded with consumers to bear with the situation.

The GWCL is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible to restore water supply to the affected communities.

The company is committed to providing reliable water services to its customers and appreciates their understanding and cooperation during this time.
