- Bruno Labbadia brings a wealth of experience managing top-tier European clubs
- Labbadia's appointment marks a change in leadership for the Super Eagles
- Fans are eager to see what Labbadia's coaching style will do for the Super Eagles
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially appointed German coach Bruno Labbadia as the new head of the Super Eagles.
The 58-year-old Labbadia succeeds Finidi George, who stepped down in June following a series of underwhelming performances.
The NFF confirmed Labbadia’s hiring in a statement issued on Tuesday morning, with General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi noting that the NFF Executive Committee endorsed the Technical and Development sub-committee’s recommendation.
Labbadia brings extensive experience to the role, having previously managed several prominent European clubs, including Hamburg, Stuttgart, and Wolfsburg.
His appointment is seen as a significant boost for Nigerian football, with fans hopeful that he will provide the stability and success the team has been lacking.
Labbadia’s initial challenge will be guiding the Super Eagles through the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers set to begin next month. Nigeria has faced difficulties recently, particularly in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers under Finidi George.
With Labbadia now leading the team, there is a renewed sense of optimism that the Super Eagles can deliver strong performances and improve their fortunes.
The NFF is confident in Labbadia’s ability to achieve results, highlighting his extensive experience as a major asset. As the new coach prepares to take charge, Nigerian football enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating a return to winning form for their national team.
