Manchester United is on the verge of securing Uruguay midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of €50 million (£42.29 million).
The deal includes a potential for €10 million (£8.46 million) in additional payments.
Ugarte, who joined PSG from Sporting Lisbon last year for €60 million, is expected to undergo a medical in Manchester and sign for the Old Trafford club.
The 23-year-old made 37 appearances for PSG last season, including 25 in Ligue 1.
As part of the Ugarte deal, PSG has negotiated a 10% sell-on clause. Both clubs are reportedly satisfied with the terms of the agreement.
The transfer of Ugarte is contingent on Scott McTominay’s move to Napoli. McTominay is expected to travel to Italy for a medical on Tuesday.
United has accepted a €30 million (£25.37 million) offer for the Scotland midfielder, who has made 32 Premier League appearances and scored seven goals for the club.
United’s decision to sell McTominay is influenced by the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations, which incentivize the sale of homegrown players.
Manager Erik ten Hag could not guarantee McTominay regular playing time, and United first considered offers for the 27-year-old last year.
Ugarte has been a target for United throughout the summer and is seen as a valuable addition to the squad.
His signing would bring United’s total spending for the summer transfer window to over £190 million. Since Erik ten Hag took charge in 2022, United has spent nearly £600 million on new players.
