Ghanaian musician Nana Kwaku Osei, widely known as Nacee, has voiced his endorsement of the policy proposals put forth by John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Speaking to ChannelOne TV at the NDC Manifesto launch in Winneba on August 24, 2024, Nacee expressed confidence in Mahama’s potential to benefit the nation.
“I believe he can do it because when President Mahama was on the seat, he did a couple of things and he has done those things before,” said Nacee, reflecting on Mahama’s previous achievements during his presidency.
Nacee’s support for the NDC is part of a broader trend within the creative arts community. Prominent figures in the entertainment industry, including Big Akwes, Christiana Awuni, Mercy Asiedu, Jack Alolome, and Kofi Okyere Darko, have also publicly endorsed the NDC ahead of the December 7, 2024 election.
This marks another instance of Nacee’s affiliation with the NDC. The singer is known for composing campaign songs for the party, including popular tracks such as ‘E Dey Be’, ‘Onaapo’, and ‘Mahama Okada’.
The NDC has outlined several policies aimed at boosting Ghana’s economy and supporting the creative arts sector. One of the key proposals is the introduction of a 24-hour economy to stimulate economic growth.
For the creative arts sector, the NDC plans to launch ‘The Black Star Experience,’ a year-round celebration of Ghanaian culture, arts, and tourism. This initiative aims to establish Ghana as a leading tourism destination by promoting major entertainment, artistic, and educational disciplines.
The NDC also intends to support young digital content creators in developing content that highlights Ghanaian culture, revive the creative arts fund to provide sustainable financial backing for start-ups and established enterprises, and review and enforce broadcasting, digital, and local content regulations to boost local artistic productions. Additionally, the party plans to enhance the collection and management of copyrights and royalties in Ghana.
