Bernard Antwi Bosiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), commonly known as Chairman Wontumi, has delivered a stern ultimatum to government appointees.
He insists they must demonstrate their loyalty and effectiveness in their roles to avoid repercussions.
In an interview on a Kumasi radio station, Wontumi reminded listeners that the party had no appointed officials in 2016, and those who currently hold positions secured them only after the NPP’s electoral victory.
He warned that appointees who fail to validate their appointments through their actions will face serious consequences. Wontumi urged them to actively campaign and prove their dedication, noting that successful campaigns will be obvious to everyone.
He cited Dr. Bawumia and Samira Bawumia as exemplary figures whose efforts are self-evident, along with Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
He emphasized that these leaders are clearly demonstrating why they deserve their respective roles: Dr. Bawumia for president, Opoku Prempeh for vice president, and Samira Bawumia for first lady.
Wontumi also commended President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his tireless efforts to strengthen his leadership and secure an NPP victory.
He called on those who supported Dr. Bawumia during the primaries to now concentrate on advancing his presidential campaign. Although their support during the primaries was valuable, it needs to be coupled with active contributions to Bawumia’s campaign.
Wontumi also acknowledged that even those who initially opposed Bawumia, such as Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, are now working towards his success.
