Renowned gospel musician Obaapa Christy has made a heartfelt appeal for greater sensitivity when it comes to public commentary on divorces. The artist emphasized that marital issues can be complex, and in some cases, separation might be the only viable option for personal safety.
In an emotional discussion with Fiifi Pratt on Kingdom FM, Obaapa Christy, who is divorced from her first husband, Pastor Love, urged individuals who have never been married to avoid making harsh judgments about publicized divorce cases. She stressed that without personal experience, it is difficult to fully understand the nuances of such situations.
“There are people who profess love to a woman and yet end up killing her. Many things happen, but if you haven’t experienced it, you speak about it carelessly, while the victim knows how it feels,” Obaapa Christy stated during the interview.
She added that despite the criticisms surrounding her past relationship, she remains focused on her current marriage and is unconcerned with negative remarks about her previous union. “I don’t care whether my ex-husband talks too much; we are no longer together, and it’s been 10 years,” she said.
Obaapa Christy’s previous marriage to Pastor Love ended due to irreconcilable differences, with specific details of their separation kept private.
