A tragic incident occurred at Asempa down in Kasoa, Awutu Senya East Municipality, Central Region, resulting in the loss of three construction workers’ lives.
The workers were on site when the building they were working on suddenly collapsed, trapping them under the rubble.
According to a survivor, a carpenter and two other construction workers were entrapped under the debris.
The carpenter sadly died on the spot, while the other two workers passed away during evacuation to the hospital.
The workers were in the process of filling concrete for the first floor of the storey building when the entire structure came crashing down.
Patrick Sarfo, a worker who survived the incident, recounted the events leading up to the collapse.
He stated that he was standing near the machine, observing his colleagues working on the building, when he noticed it start to come down.
Sarfo quickly pushed one of his coworkers aside and managed to jump to safety, narrowly escaping the collapse.
He revealed that he had previously expressed concerns about the building’s foundation, warning his colleagues that it was not strong.
Passers-by assisted in removing the trapped workers from the rubble, but unfortunately, it was too late to save them.
