Students Arrested for Lynching Spiritualist At Twifo Praso

Two students from Twifo Praso Senior High School have been taken into police custody for allegedly orchestrating the lynching of a spiritualist.

The spiritualist, Abdul Latif, had accused one of the students of stealing a junior student’s mobile phone.

The incident occurred on the evening of August 21, 2024, in Twifo Praso, Central Region. Abdul Latif was brought in to assist in locating the missing phone.

After he identified one of the students as the thief, the accused student reportedly gathered a group of about ten peers.

This group then ambushed Abdul Latif, severely beating him until he succumbed to his injuries. They subsequently disposed of his body in a nearby bush.

The police discovered Latif’s body and transported it to the Twifo Praso Government Hospital Mortuary for an autopsy. The event triggered significant unrest among local youth, who considered attacking the school for retaliation. However, the police, aided by reinforcements from the Central North Regional Police Command, managed to prevent further violence and restore peace.

Latif’s father, Yaw Nkrumah, revealed that his son had previously been attacked twice by students, but had managed to escape unharmed. The fatal attack was the third such incident involving the students.
