”Heartbroken” Woman Sets Self Ablaze After Divorce

In a tragic turn of events, a 40-year-old woman, whose identity has been withheld, set herself on fire following her recent divorce in Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa.
According to DSP Lawan Shiisu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the state, the distressing event occurred on Thursday morning. The woman, a resident of Garin Mallam village, reportedly used petrol to ignite herself, leading to her death from severe burns.
The police were alerted to the scene around 7:40 AM, where they confirmed the woman’s death and transported her remains to the hospital. The body was later returned to her family for burial.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman had been struggling with depression for several months after her divorce. In response, Commissioner of Police Mr. Ahmadu Abdullahi urged individuals to place their trust in God during difficult times and seek guidance from elders to prevent such tragic outcomes.
