Election 2024: IEA Launches Presidential Debate Committee

The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) has established a 9-member committee to oversee presidential debates as the 2024 general elections draw near.

The IEA has previously revealed plans to conduct debates for presidential and vice-presidential candidates in October and November.

The newly formed committee features notable figures such as Justice Sophia Akuffo, Dr. Humphrey Ayim-Darke, Dr. Abukari Mohammed Marzaq Azindoo, Rev. Father Charles Boampong Sarfo, and Most Reverend Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo.

In a media briefing, committee Chairperson Justice Sophia Akuffo highlighted the committee’s commitment to ensuring active participation from political parties and enhancing the debate process.

She emphasized that the goal is to provide a platform where presidential candidates can present their policies and visions, inform and empower voters, and foster peace throughout the election period.
