On August 22, 2019, the football world mourned the loss of Junior Agogo, who passed away at the age of 40.

The former Ghanaian striker, known for his stints with Nottingham Forest and QPR, began his career at Sheffield Wednesday.

He had loan spells with Oldham, Chester, Chesterfield, and Lincoln, before making a name for himself in the United States with Chicago Fire, Colorado Rapids, and San Jose Earthquakes.

Upon returning to England in 2002, Agogo joined QPR, then quickly moved to Barnet, where his impressive performances earned him a transfer to Bristol Rovers. He enjoyed a successful three-year period with the club before a two-year spell at Nottingham Forest.

In 2008, Agogo transferred to Egyptian club Zamalek SC and later played for Cypriot team Apollon Limassol and Scottish side Hibernian before retiring in 2012.

Born in Accra, Agogo also made 27 appearances for the Ghanaian national team, scoring 12 goals.

He was particularly notable for his role in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, where he scored three goals in six matches, including a memorable late winner against Nigeria.
